BANGLADESH IN SRI LANKA 2013: TEAM UPDATE
2013-03-01
The Bangladesh Team had their first training session of the tour today afternoon at the Matara Sports Club. The squad had arrived at the picturesque beach town following a nearly four-hour drive from Colombo earlier in the day.
The players made good use of the centre wicket facilities at the venue for the three-day warm up match against Sri Lanka Cricket’s Emerging Team which starts Sunday. On a positive note for the Tigers opening batsman Tamim Iqbal practised with a bat for the first time since picking up an injury to his left wrist during the Bangladesh Premier League T20 two weeks ago.
“Today he had a few hits against the slow bowlers. Initially there was some pain but after the area was taped he felt much better and more confident. The problem is with a cartilage but we have seven days to go before the first Test. Our priority is to get him fit for that match and the signs looked good today. Tomorrow he will bat against the pacers and gradually he will be taking on more load,” said Bangladesh physio Vibhav Singh.
The team will have another afternoon training session tomorrow at the same ground.
