BCB CEO Manzur Ahmed passes away

It is with deep sadness The Bangladesh Cricket Board announces the passing away of its Chief Executive Officer Manzur Ahmed. The  55-year old died this morning following a cardiac arrest in Dhaka. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
 
BCB President AHM Mustafa Kamal paid his tribute to Manzur Ahmed: "This is a massive loss for Bangladesh cricket. Manzur Ahmed was a true gentleman and a hardworking and thoroughly honest professional. He had developed a wonderful reputation internationally and had initiated the process of many a work that would be beneficial to the development of the game in Bangladesh. We can only show our gratitude to him if we can complete his unfinished job," 
 
Manzur Ahmed joined the BCB in August 2010 after serving as CEO of Brunei Darussalam Cricket Association for five years. He was an Executive Member of the Brunei Darussalam Cricket Association from 1996 to 2003 and was the cricket association’s Development Manager from 2003 to 2005. He was an Executive Member of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Executive Board.
 
A former cricketer Ahmed had represented Bangladesh as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the early eighties and has had a distinguished club and zonal cricket career spanning two decades. He started his Dhaka club cricket stint for Eaglets and went on to play for Mohammedan, Abahani and Gulshan Youth. 
 
He was an engineering graduate of the Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) and had completed his MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University. He was also an IT Specialist. He was a former cadet of Mirzapore Cadet College.
 
A versatile individual Ahmed was also involved in the group theatre movement in the eighties.
