The BCB Cricket Operations Committee has recommended appointing bowling coach Shane Jurgensen as National Team Head Coach up to 31 December 2013. Jurgensen was the interim coach of the National Team for the home series against the West Indies last year. The Committee had short-listed four candidates, three Australians and one English coach for the post.
- To formalise the appointment of a local assistant coach for the Head Coach, the position will be advertised shortly. Recommendation is for a long-term appointment.
- Stuart Karppinen, the SAHARA-BCB National Cricket Academy Performance Manager to be appointed the National Team Strength & Conditioning Coach for the forthcoming away tours to Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
- Former Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who was spin consultant for the National Team during the 2012 ICC WT20 in Sri Lanka and the home series against the West Indies, is available for 100 days during the coming season. The Committee will work out a suitable period for a future consultancy assignment.
- The Committee recommended initiating immediate talks with prospective batting and fielding coaches from England and Australia respectively.
The recommendations will be placed at the next BCB Bard meeting for approval.
