Dhaka Gladiators retain the BPL title

Dhaka Gladiators retain the BPL title by winning the second edition of BPL. They beat Chittagong Kings by 43 runs in the final at Sher e Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Earlier Anamul Haque and Shakib Al Hasan and later Mosharof Hossain and Alfonso Thomas contributed well to secure the most important win for Dhaka Gladiators. Mosharraf Hossain judged man of the match for his most valuable bowling spell of 3 wickets for 26 runs.
Winning the toss, Chittagong Kings skipper Mahmudullah put Dhaka Gladiators to bat first. The new sensation young star Taskin Ahmed proved the decision justified by taking Tillakratne Dilshan in the very first over. But useful batting by Ashraful-16(24), Anamul-58(36) and Shakib-41(29) helped Dhaka Gladiators to score a respectable total of 172 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Rubel Hossain finished with 4/44. Taskin Ahmed and Dilhara Lokuhettige both took two wickets and Ravi Bopara one wicket.
Needing 173 to win, the Kings were all out in 16.5 overs scoring 129 though Jason Roy started with aggression and made 40 of 28 balls and later skipper Mahmudullah scored highest 44 of 28 balls. Slow left-arm bowler Mosharraf Hossain Rubel put the Kings in a puzzle taking three wickets for 26 runs. Alfonso Thomas also claimed 3 for 19.
